Krispy Krunchy Chicken is a brand that isn’t afraid to take chances. Maybe that’s why we’ve gotten a long so well. We were asked to create a custom trade show booth that invited natural human interaction (with food). And since our client was fearless but always delivered what the people wanted, the pressure cooker was on. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Cue flashback music…
Established in 1989, Krispy Krunchy Chicken is one of the fastest growing convenience store concepts in the nation boasting 2300 retail locations in 41 states. In the past 5-6 years, it’s expanded into 21 countries with their International program. Some of the territories it covers include Costa Rica, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Thailand, and Vietnam. As a company that’s always reinventing itself, KKC also knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and offers their popular Krispy Breakfast program.
We were asked to create an experiential exhibit booth that was a combination of the client’s brand along with a fully functioning restaurant kitchen including, fryers, warmers, and food preparation area that would allow Krispy Krunchy to serve food onsite while controlling booth traffic flow and people in the queue.
No easy task…
Ever heard of the annual National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS)? Now you have. It’s an international trade association that serves those who work in the convenience and fuel retailing industry with advocacy, connections, and industry knowledge. Seeing as this was the only show that Krispy Chicken attended, we made sure their appearance was memorable.
The project took 4-6 months and went as planned. As you can see from our lovely images (cut to the images), we hid the prep cook and storage area inside the booth. Our overall strategy was to encompass the brand’s eye-catching, unique, and colorful design but keep the day-to-day prep in the background. We wanted to protect the secret of Krispy Krunchy’s great taste. There were also power booth requirements that had to be met since a fully functioning kitchen restaurant demands a lot of energy. Throughout the show, we made tweaks to the booth like menu changes, layout revisions, flooring protection, and more.
The result? Krispy Krunchy Chicken became one of the top visited booths at the NACS show.
